What is procrastination?
Procrastination is the action of unnecessarily and voluntarily delaying or postponing something despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing so.
The word has originated from the Latin word procrastinatus, which itself evolved from the prefix pro-, meaning “forward,” and crastinus, meaning “of tomorrow.
Procrastinators may have more sleep issues and experience greater stressful regret than non-procrastinators. What’s more, procrastination can also hinder your self-esteem with the guilt, shame, or self-critical thoughts that can result from putting off tasks.
Procrastination can lead to, increased stress, health problems and poorer performance. It can also be a protective and sometimes nexessarry productive mechanism.
We all have peaks, troughs and plateaus on our journey, which affect our ability to deliver results. We are not completely isolated from other variables and rhythms affecting our healthy capacity.
And it may be the worst thing to follow any advice on procrastination other than your own.
